BSNL Dil   Ka Darbar to Focus on Children Heart Diseases

Friday 4th September 2009 HCFI: The forthcoming BSNL Dil Ka Darbar, being organised by Heart Care Foundation of India on 6th September at Maulana Azad Medical College, will have as one of the focuses on heart diseases amongst children. Giving the details, Dr. K.K. Aggarwal, President, Heart Care Foundation of India, said that sore throat in children should not be ignored as a particular type of bacterial sore throat can bite the heart permanently and damage the valves. It is often associated with non deforming joint pains. These children need isolation and timely antibiotics. In the present scenario such cases can be confused with Swine Flu.

Talking about congenital heart diseases,       Dr. Aggarwal, said that 1% of the newborn may have congenital defects. Congenital defects occur in elderly pregnancy, late marriages, aged father (over 40), and exposure of pregnant woman in the first three months with drugs, X-ray or viral infections. The forthcoming darbar will answer queries and provide counselling to such parents.
