Nursing competitions held

Friday 9th October HCFI New Delhi: In the ongoing MTNL Perfect Health Mela  series of activities were organized today. The mela is being oranised by Heart Care Foundation of India in collaboration with various Departments of Delhi Government from 3rd to 12th October, 2009 at NDMC Grounds, Laxmibai Nagar, New Delhi.

According to the MTNL Perfect Health Mela, President,
Dr. K K Aggarwal, it is notable that over 1700 nursing students of various nursing schools and colleges utilized the Perfect Health Mela venue as their community posting.  They not only helped in examining & vaccinating the patients but also learnt about social counseling, stage management and many aspects of personality development.  Apart from students a group of over 30 teachers were coordinated. Defining a nurse the experts said that a nurse is a noble, understanding, responsible, simple and efficient healthcare provider.

In the mela, Divya Jyoti, the inter-nursing college/school competition, was held which included poster making, slogan writing, model display, quiz, role play on the topic “Care of Elderly”. Addressing the public,
Dr. Neelam Mohan, Senior Pediatric Consultant, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said that all children should be given de-worming medicine once in three months. She further said that jaundice is an extremely common disease in children and can be prevented either by vaccination in case of Hepatitis B and by food and water hygiene in case of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis E.

Seminar on bypass held
Addressing the mela, Dr. S Bajaj Cardiac Surgeon Medanta, Dr K K Aggarwal Cardiologist, Mr. Mohan Lal Director ISM and Acharya Dr. Sadhvi Sadhnaji Maharaj said that failure of adequate medical treatment to provide wanted quality of life is the indication for bypass surgery. If a person can walk 2 km, climb two flights of stairs or can have exercise on the bed with his or her partner without any discomfort may not require bypass surgery.

Coca Cola India sponsored the Inter Nursing College/School Competition on drugs and health. Over 25 schools participated in the event.

Diwali precautions on display: The ongoing Perfect Health Mela is creating awareness and appealing to the general public to learn safety measures so that Diwali-induced burns and eye injuries do not happen.  The message says that one should wear noise protective plugs to prevent noise pollution and where possible wear plastic-based spectacles to prevent sparkling induced eye injuries.

Kavi Samellan: Hindi Academy organized a Kavi Sammelan at the mela where noted Hindi poets recited their poems.
