Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation classes in Perfect Helath Mela

Tuesday 6th October New Delhi HCFI: First-aid classes including certificate course in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation a life saving technique used within ten minutes of medical death, are being held everyday. Apart from general public, commercial drivers are also being provided special training on the subject.

Dr. Aggarwal said that death is reversible provided CPR is given in the 10 minutes of the stoppage of heart. Till the brain is alive, the heart can be revived back.

CPR should be taught in schools and colleges as there is no way a person can be taken to the hospital in case of cardiac arrest in 10 minutes. CPR, therefore, should be given by a bystander.

Heart attack is common in morning hours and sudden death is common in the first few hours of chest pain. No chest pain, therefore, should be ignored.

Chest compression is much more effective than mouth to mouth breathing. Chest compression alone can save life. CPR need to be started when there is no response, breathing or pulse. Victim should be made to lie on plain surface with no pillow below the head. There should be no crowd around the person for those ten minutes. He should be given 100 chest compressions per minute as fast and as hard one can. If the patient is unconscious but alive, he should be transferred to the hospital with a pillow under the head with chin slightly lifted and head pulled down.

The ongoing Perfect Health Mela is being organized by Heart Care Foundation of India jointly with Health Department, Delhi Government from 3rd to 12th October, 2009 at NDMC Grounds, Laxmibai Nagar, New Delhi.
