Electro meridian sensor
Friday, 5 June 2009 New Delhi: Electro Meridian Sensor, a new medical technology based on the Chinese Medicine Concept was launched in the city here today by Singapore based group Acusens Dr. Kenny Yong an anesthetist cum Chinese Medicine expert from Malaysia.
Unveiling the technology Dr Kenny said that the Chinese medicine is based on the importance of understanding the laws of nature and for humans to integrate and abide by these laws rather than to resist them. The human body is regarded as a microcosmic reflection of the macrocosm of the universe.
The medicine uses Qi, yin/yang and Five Elements as the basic concepts. The goal of the clinician is to maintain the body's harmonious balance both internally and in relation to the external environment.
- Qi (pronounced "chee") is the "vital energy". It is felt to permeate all things, may assume different forms, and travel through meridians located on the body. It can be described as stagnant, depleted, collapsed, or rebellious.
- Yin and yang are complementary opposites and are used to describe all things in nature. Yin is used to represent more material, dense states of matter while yang represents more immaterial, rarefied states of matter. The interplay between the two opposites is dynamic and cyclical.
- Five Elements along with yin/yang theory form the basis of Chinese medical theory. The Five Elements are wood, water, fire, earth, and metal. These elements are not basic constituents of nature, but represent different basic processes, qualities, or phases of a cycle. Each element can generate or counteract another element. Most vital organs, acupuncture meridians, emotions, and other health-related variable are assigned an element, thus providing a global description of the balancing dynamics seen in each person.
Talking about the technology Dr KK Aggarwal President, Heart Care Foundation of India said that electro meridian sensor is the first technology introduced in the country to measure Qi, Yin and Yang and the balance between these five elements of the nature. With this one should be able to pick up the imbalances in the body much before any symptoms appear or the lab values become abnormal. The technology can pick up cellular stress, the energy index and the metabolic index and can pin point the imbalance between left and right, top and bottom of the body and can measure the general immune status of the body.
The technology can for the first time provide a common platform for doctors from allopathy, ayurveda and homeopathy to talk about a common language and in future will be a boon for prevention.
Electro meridian based treatments are usually individualized, and two patients with the same symptoms often do not get the same treatment. The same patient also may not receive the same treatment on subsequent visits.
The Chinese practitioner relies on these principles for diagnosis and treatment selection. Once the nature of imbalance is determined, the practitioner aims to shift the constitution towards balance with the use of various interventions.
Mr Nilesh Aggarwal, Mr Rajjiv Saigal and Mr Nipun also talked about the technology in details.
